Live as of May 20th, 2019:
We understand that the cost of living is increasing and it is important to us and your clients that the couriers working on the Stuart platform continue to receive a competitive rate of pay.

With this in mind, we are reviewing the payments for couriers working on slot so that you do not fall under the following amounts when looked at across each worked week as part of your weekly payments:

  • Bicycles: £8.25
  • Mopeds & cars: £8.75

We will check each week (not per slot like MG) that falling under these amounts does not happen for you by adding all your earnings of your validated slots (delivery earnings + MG top-up if applicable + any delivery rewards) to see the average hourly rate received. If you did not meet the relevant average rate listed above for each validated slot hour in that week, we will top-up when applicable so that you reach this average hourly rate across all those hours, including the three mentioned components.

️⚠️ This is different to Minimum Guarantee, please read carefully!

❓Q&A❓

What about off-slot?

For now, only validated slot hours come in this calculation and will potentially be topped-up. We have reviewed the way in which we price off slot work and consider that this is currently at a competitive level and offers more flexibility for you.

What about invalidated slots?

Invalidated slot hours will not come in this calculation and will not be eligible for the top-up as the criteria for MG hasn't been met. Read more here about MG validation criteria.

How will this appear on my payment statement?

There will be a 'Weekly Top-Up' line on your weekly payment statement, with the corresponding amount paid if applicable.

Why is Stuart doing this?

We understand that the cost of living is increasing and it is important to us and your clients that the couriers working on the Stuart platform continue to receive a competitive rate of pay. While Minimum Guarantee is not increasing, we believe this to be an additional safety net to make sure that your weekly hourly earnings never fall under what we know your clients consider to be a reasonable and competitive level.

How is this different to Minimum Guarantee?

Minimum Guarantee is calculated per slot, while this amount is calculated on a whole week basis at the same time payment is made. Also, Minimum Guarantee top-up only takes into account delivery earnings, and will account for the difference if needed. The Weekly Top-Up is calculated on average per hour and also takes into account any delivery rewards earned.

Examples

  • Example 1, for a bicycle (MG at £7.50, Weekly Top-Up rate at £8.25):

I have attended and validated 3 slots for a total of 10.5 hours across one week in Manchester, as follows:

Slot 1, Monday from 2 to 5.30pm: 3 completed deliveries for a total of £13.50, topped up to Minimum Guarantee for an amount of £12.75, no delivery rewards. Total for 3.5 hours = £26.25

Slot 2, Wednesday from 11am to 2pm: 5 completed deliveries for a total of £22.5, not topped up to Minimum Guarantee, delivery rewards of £4.50. Total for 3 hours = £27

Slot 3, Friday from 2pm to 6pm: 4 completed deliveries for a total of £18, topped up to Minimum Guarantee for an amount of £12, no delivery rewards. Total for 4 hours = £30

Weekly payment:
10.5 validated slot hours for a total of £83.25
Weekly Top-Up rate at £8.25 for these 10.5 hours would be £86.63
As a result, a Weekly Top-Up payment will be made of £3.38 for that week

  • Example 2, for a bicycle (MG at £7.50, Weekly Top-Up rate at £8.25):

I have attended and validated 4 slots for a total of 11.5 hours across one week in Manchester, as follows:

Slot 1, Tuesday from 5pm to 9.30pm: 8 completed deliveries for a total of £34, not topped up to Minimum Guarantee, delivery rewards of £9.50. Total for 4.5 hours = £43.5

Slot 2, Thursday from 11.30am to 1.30pm: 4 completed deliveries for a total of £20, not topped up to Minimum Guarantee, delivery rewards of £7.50. Total for 2 hours = £27.50

Slot 3, Saturday from 2.30pm to 5.30pm: 3 completed deliveries for a total of £11.50, topped up to Minimum Guarantee for an amount of £11, no delivery rewards. Total for 3 hours = £22.50

Slot 4, Sunday from 9.30 to 11.30pm: 2 completed deliveries for a total of £9.25, topped up to Minimum Guarantee for an amount of £5.75, delivery rewards of £4. Total for 2 hours = £19

Weekly payment:
11.5 validated slot hours for a total of £112.5
Weekly Top-Up rate at £8.25 for these 11.5 hours would be £94.88
As a result, there is no Weekly Top-Up payment as the total earnings on slot are higher than the average of £8.25/hour.
